Get Ready for a Wild & Wacky Summer at the Crawford County Historical Museum with WACKY WEDNESDAYS!

The Crawford County Historical Museum is turning up the creativity with the return of its summer tradition - WACKY WEDNESDAYS! Through the month of June, kids can enjoy four unforgettable Wednesdays of hands-on fun, laughter, and learning with a brand-new theme every week!


WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4th: Wacky Works of Art

Colorful and wacky art adventures!

  • Swirl-n-Dip Studio - Dip it, swirl it, wow it! Create one-of-a-kind patterns by dipping shapes into colorful, swirling paint on water. 

  • Spin to Win! - Get ready to spin up some color magic! Drop in your paint, spin it fast, and see what wacky patterns appear.

  • Wacky Stamp Lab - Stamp it silly! Use fun foam shapes and funky objects to stamp patterns on your paper.

  • Paint Like Picasso! Artists will receive a certificate verifying that they painted like Picasso at the museum!

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11TH: SEK Tractor Club Takeover 

Celebrate country life with engines, ropes, and racing ducks

  • Barrel Train Rides – Hop on and take a ride around the museum grounds in our wacky barrel train pulled by a real tractor!

  • Rubber Duck Races – Race ducks down the water chute and cheer yours to victory!

  • TWIST, TURN & TUG! - Learn how to make rope just like the pioneers did!  You’ll get to twist fibers and pull your own rope to take home.

  • Tractor Petting Zoo – Sit on vintage tractors and snap a photo!

  • Corn Sensory Bins – Grind corn like the pioneers did, then dig and play in bins filled with dried corn and scooping tools.

  • Utterly Awesome! - Ever wonder what it's like to milk a cow? Now’s your chance to try - no moo-ving target, just our friendly wooden cow! 

WEDNESDAY, June 18: Barnyard Bonanza!

Furry, feathered, and funny animal fun!

  • Kramer Livestock and Petting Zoo - Kids can gently pet and feed approved treats to the animals in the pet & learn corral.

  • Critter Faces with Angela’s Artistic Expressions - Let your imagination run wild! Kids can become: Goofy Goats, Moo-velous Calves, Curious Camels, Colorful Roosters, Farmyard Puppies + more

  • Photo Corral - Selfie station with hay bales, hobby horses, and animal-themed props.


WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25TH: Life on the Trail: Cow Creek Cowboy Roundup

Saddle up for a wild western adventure exploring pioneer life and cowboy fun!


  • Mighty Mo Chuckwagon - Swing by the chuckwagon to learn how the cooks how to feed everyone on the roundups. Sample a scoop of sweet fruit cobbler—just like cowboys enjoyed by the campfire.

  • Rope Like a Real Cowboy - Can you lasso like a legend? Test your cowboy skills at the roping station with Ms. Dani! Try to rope a (plastic) steer like the pros do on the open range. Clyde & Coldbrew will be there too!

  • Covered Wagon Camp - Step inside history! See a real covered wagon and imagine life on the trail as the Pugh’s tell the story of what pioneers packed for the long journey west—and their adventures.


The Crawford County Historical Museum is turning up the creativity with the return of its summer tradition — WACKY WEDNESDAYS! Through the month of June, kids can enjoy 4 unforgettable Wednesdays of hands-on fun, laughter, and learning with a brand-new theme every week!

Each Wednesday from 11:15 AM to 12:15 PM, the museum grounds transform into a world of imagination where kids can lasso like a cowboy, travel in a covered wagon, paint like Picasso, or even be an animal keeper — all while exploring the wonders of art and history in fun weekly adventure where imagination meets exploration!

“This is one of our favorite programs of the year,” said Amanda Minton, Director. “Wacky Wednesdays are all about the kids. Plus, parents love that the activities are both fun and educational!”
